Discover why the Moomin x Skultuna Stinky brass figurine is a standout collectible. This guide covers design details, collector value, and who should buy it.
Quick answer
The Moomin x Skultuna Stinky brass figurine is a playful, high-quality collectible that brings a mischievous Moomins character into your home. It's best for dedicated Moomin fans and brass decor enthusiasts who appreciate character-driven design.
Why Stinky stands out in the Moomin x Skultuna collection
Stinky is not your typical Moomin character. Described as a small, grumpy creature who often causes trouble in Moominvalley, he's a proud scoundrel. Skultuna has captured his fuzzy body, thin legs, and two small antennae in polished brass, giving him a tactile, whimsical presence that contrasts with more serene Moomin figures.
This figurine is part of a limited collaboration between Skultuna, a Swedish brass foundry with over 400 years of history, and the beloved Moomin brand. The brass material gives Stinky a warm, lasting finish that develops a natural patina over time, adding character to your shelf or desk.
Collector value and pricing
Priced at USD 693.00 (catalog comparison price USD 1100.00), Stinky sits at a premium tier for Moomin collectibles. The brass construction and limited-edition nature justify the cost for serious collectors, but it's a significant investment compared to resin or plastic figures. If you're a casual fan, you might find more affordable Moomin merchandise elsewhere.
The higher price point also reflects Skultuna's craftsmanship. Each figurine is cast and finished by hand, meaning slight variations in patina or polish are normal and add to its uniqueness.
Decision rules for buying the Moomin x Skultuna Stinky
- Are you a dedicated Moomin collector?: If you actively seek limited-edition Moomin merchandise and appreciate character-driven design, Stinky is a must-have. His unique personality and brass material set him apart from standard figures. Check if your collection already includes other Skultuna Moomin pieces for a cohesive display.
- Do you value brass home decor?: If you love warm metal accents that age gracefully, this figurine fits beautifully. Brass develops a natural patina over time, which some collectors prize. Be aware that the patina is part of the charm, not a flaw. Consider placing Stinky in a spot where you can see the patina develop, like a bookshelf or desk.
- Is the price within your budget?: At USD 693.00, this is a premium collectible. If you're a casual fan or on a tight budget, you may prefer smaller or less expensive Moomin items. However, for serious collectors, the craftsmanship and limited nature justify the cost. Compare with other Skultuna Moomin figurines to see if the price aligns with your collection goals.
